The Program and The Law
Texas leads the nation in traffic fatalities. In 2000, 3,769 people were killed and more than 300,000 were injured on Texas streets and highways. That's why we're proud to be participating in the Click It or Ticket Texas program.
Click It or Ticket is a statewide, high visibility, massive enforcement effort designed to detect violators of the Safety Belt and Child Safety seat laws in Texas. The program will be a statewide, high profile effort that will use a proven combination of highly visible enforcement and intense public awareness over a two week blitz period beginning Nov.19th. While the program is statewide, heavy emphasis will be focused on Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Lubbock, Garland, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and El Paso. The goal of the program is to save lives and reduce injuries resulting from motor vehicle crashes by increasing seat belt usage from the current 90 percent usage rate to the state's goal of 92 percent.
The Media
Television, radio, print, and billboard advertising of Click It or Ticket will begin in late April and run through the middle of June. The goal of advertising is to raise Texans awareness of the Safety Belt law and the consequences of not buckling up. An aggressive, coordinated, highly publicized campaign will send a strong message that everyone must be buckled up.
