It's Click It or Ticket time again!

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is requesting your agency's support in increasing Texas ' safety belt and child safety restraint usage rates. In appreciation of your support, TxDOT is making available a number of incentives that can be used for the purchase of equipment or training needs.

Agencies meeting the eligibility criteria will be entered into a random drawing and could receive one of the incentives.

How Can Your Agency Become Eligible?

  • Conduct safety belt and child passenger safety enforcement during the mobilization period (May 23 – June 5, 2005 ).

  • Report agency enforcement statistics by June 15, 2005 on the Buckle Up Texas website www.buckleuptexas.com . Each agency will have access to the user-friendly web reporting system and the ability to create its own report. Contact Julie O'Neill at Julie@tmpa.org for website reporting questions. Each agency will be required to input specific enforcement data. Click here to see Required Reporting Data

What Type of Incentive Can Your Agency Receive?

If your agency conducts enforcement activity during the mobilization and submits the electronic report by the June 15 th deadline, then your agency will be eligible for the drawing. The table below indicates how agencies will be categorized and the level of incentives that will be distributed.

TxDOT will determine the eligibility of agencies for the drawing by evaluating the submitted data on the Buckle Up Texas website. Agencies meeting the eligibility requirements will be categorized as described in the table above and a random drawing will occur. The results of the random drawing will be posted on the Buckle Up Texas website no later than June 25, 2005 . A TxDOT representative will contact the selected agencies and determine what type of equipment or training the agency plans to purchase. A Letter of Agreement will then be drafted by TxDOT and signed by both parties. Agencies will submit receipts of purchase for the equipment and TxDOT will reimburse the agency for the actual costs, not to exceed the limits listed above. Click here to see categories of equipment/training that are allowable ( Equipment/Training ).

Remember, TxDOT has the authority to request that each agency show written documentation to prove their participation in the CIOT campaign.

TxDOT looks forward to working with your agency on this worthwhile project. As we all know, safety belts and child passenger restraints save lives. With your participation we can make a difference. Click It or Ticket!
